May Favourites 2017

Hi, guys! I cannot believe that it is June already…….. May has gone way too fast.

Just want to apologise because I didn’t post much in May, I was stuck with what to write, also I had a huge pile of college work. Let’s make June an amazing month.

Anyway, let’s get into my May Favourites.

#GIRLBOSS

Picture

I heard a lot about this and how good it was, so I gave it a go. My god, it was so good! I found it a really inspiring TV show, and like I said in my previous post, I wanted to try and have my own business myself selling clothes. But I’ll leave that for the films and TV shows.

If you haven’t seen it, go straight onto you Netflix, like NOW….

Go on, I’m waiting…. Have you logged in yet?

Right, so you should have said yes. Now stop reading this and watch Girlboss then carry on reading this post. Or read the rest of this post then watch Girlboss….      🙂

I think that Brit Robertson is the perfect actress for this role. I absolutely love her work and the roles she plays, especially this one. I love the story behind it and the whole flipping show.

Go n watch it!!

CANVA

Picture

Okay, recently I found this app on the App Store and I adore it. It’s a bloody life saver.

Basically, it creates anything you want, posters, Instagram posts, Facebook posts, business cards, anything!
I use it for my Instagram posts and my Pinterest posts, by adding an image in the background then some text on top, but they are thousands of templates to choose from. My favourite is the Photo Collage.
The best thing is, its free!!!!! And super easy to use.

Here are some examples of my posts using Canva

ACOUSTIC PLAYLISTS

Picture

I recently got into acoustic music after hearing it in college. I then found this playlist on Youtube and it is amazing. I am actually listening to it right now while typing this. It has a huge mix of different songs and artists that I’ve never heard of before, however, there are two songs from Twilight that I know.

This album is so peaceful and relaxing, and it is great to have in the background while doing work. I have tried other Youtube playlists but they’re not as good as this. Give it a try. Click here to hear the playlist.

BUFFER APP

Picture

Ever since I started my blog, I always loved personally taking my time and posting on all of my social media platforms. However, I found this app called Buffer. It basically posts your status’, tweets, etc for you while you’re busy or you may forget.

Whenever I write a blog post, I schedule it for days or weeks in advance. I then go to Buffer and schedule my tweets, Instagrams, and status’  for those days too. So for the days where I’m busy, can’t use my phone or I forget that my blog post went live, Buffer does it all for me. Plus you can add the hashtags with it too, along with videos or images.

Unfortunately, it can’t post directly to your Instagram because there is a bigger process when uploading to Instagram, ya know selecting filters and stuff. But what it does is sets you a reminder, you then go to Buffer and it will copy your status and direct you to Instagram, you then paste the status and post as usual. So there still isn’t a lot of work involved.

You can select any day or time you want in the day, and this is handy if you have some viewers from different countries. So Buffer can tweet at 3 am (UK) while you’re asleep, but your viewers in the US can see it. If that makes sense.

It is amazing! Complete life saver…

INSTAGRAM

Picture

Before I started blogging I never used Instagram that much really. However, since having a blog Instagram is my best friend.

If you’re a blogger like me and you’ve just started. You are probably struggling to get decent traffic every day. Sign up for an Instagram account, only for your blog though. Make full use of the hashtags, upload decent pictures. They don’t have to always be your images, but it would be nice if you could create your own.

Instagram gets me a lot of views a day on my blog, just make sure you use the appropriate hashtags, click here to get some ideas. Also comment back, follow back and add your blog link in the bio.

Chester Zoo

Okay, so I haven’t been to Chester Zoo for almost 5 years!!! It’s my favourite place to go. I’m such an animal lover, so I love it there. I was really proud of myself when we arrivedbecause I drove there myself!!!! Although I have been driving for just a little over a year now and I haven’t driven anywhere out of my comfort zone. So driving to Chester was a huge achievement for me. I had an amazing time there, the sun was out and we managed to see a few animals being fed. Here are some images I took while I was there.

Enjoy! 🙂

My favourite animal is a Giraffe, alongside with an Elephant.
What are your favourite animals?

April Favourites 2017

It would’ve been nice to start my monthly favourites ‘series’ at the start of this year. However, I didn’t have this blog then, and who says I can’t start now.

Within the month April, I found a lot of favourites. I was away on holiday over Easter and managed to get a few things from there. But also, I’ve been getting into a couple of new TV shows.
So grab yourself a cuppa, and let’s get started…

Picture

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION FOUNDATION

Over the last 7 years, I have tried so many foundations, from high end to low end. I recently finished the last drop of my Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation (which was amazing!), however, I needed a new one to last me until I can purchase a new Tarte foundation. So, while I was on holiday in Whitby, I nipped into their Superdrug. Which BTW, is the best store ever!  They have a bigger range of products, new offers, and new makeup brands (and nicer staff)…

Anyway, so I thought I would give this a go, as seen as I have tried the concealer and fell in love. For only £5.99, I couldn’t not get it! And let me tell ya, it’s awesome. Not only does it blend lovely, it’s HIGH coverage…I love a foundation that is cheap and high coverage, oh and the added bonus is how long it stays on for. Right now at 10pm (as I am writing this post) my foundation has stayed put, since 6am this morning!!!
Definitely worth a try. Oh and umm…the Tarte makeup is gonna have to wait because this is my No.1 favourite. Sorry, not sorry!

Picture

TECHNIC COLOURFIX COLOUR CORRECTOR PALETTE

I have always wanted to try colour correctors but didn’t want to spend the money in case I didn’t like it, or if I forgot to use it. So I saw this for only £1.99!! I love this stuff… I tend to stick to the green, purple, yellow and silver colours, only because I know where to use them.  🙂

It’s so pigmented and covers my dark circles under my eyes, and my red patch on my chin. Blends lovely too! The only problem I have is that it is a little drying if you have dry skin, however, once I apply my foundation, you can’t tell. And tbh you can’t complain, for the price of it.

Picture

RIVERDALE

Okay, so I only started watching this at the end of March – the start of April. It was recommended by a friend, who said it was cheesy but good. So I gave it a go. And OH MY GOODNESS!!! This show is amazing (and cheesy)…I ended up getting my mum to watch it with me and I am now waiting for her to get home so we can watch it together.

So I’ll give you a brief outline if you haven’t watched it yet.

Veronica moves to the town Riverdale after her dad gets arrested and she loses everything. She becomes friends with the main characters, Betty, Jughead, and Archie. Before Veronica arrives at Riverdale, the most loved boy Jason Blossom was killed, and the police are trying to find out who killed him.
I don’t want to say anymore, you just need to watch it. Let me know down in the comments if you have seen it…

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

I have watched PLL for what feels like forever! I am in love with this show and I don’t know what I am going to do with myself when it’s over. I was super excited for the new episodes to come out this year, and now they are out I have never been so excited to find out who the hell A.D is…Tell me who you think A.D is!!

SIGN OF THE TIMES – HARRY STYLES

I have always been a huge lover of Harry Styles and his voice, and he went silent after 1D broke up (apart from the film he is starring in). I first heard this song in the car on the way to Whitby with lots of talking in the background, so I couldn’t quite hear it. About 2 weeks ago I listened to it again, on my own this time. Let’s just say I have it on repeat all the frickin’ time. As its 5 minutes long I have it on repeat for an hour while doing work, then another hour, and so on…

Even though I have listened to this song well over 100 times I still don’t know all the words to it…
It’s nice to have on in the background while doing work, write blog posts (like now) or when I want to relax. Definitely my favourite song of all time.

How to stay positive

Everyone has their down days, however eventually you just want to be more positive about life and sometimes it’s hard when the people around you are always negative.

Every time I have maths, in the morning I always try to be positive about it and think about the overall benefits of passing maths. Staying positive and thinking “you can do it” helps me through my lessons. However it’s sometimes hard because some of my classmates are so negative and hate maths, so they always make negative comments, and their negativity pushes out my positivity, so I end up going into class feeling really down and depressed.

On the other hand, I like to stay positive for all activities and to just make me feel happier. Here are some of my tips on how to stay positive.

What do you like to do to stay positive?

APPS

There are so many different apps out there to help you stay positive and happy, however, I wanted to try meditation because I know it could help. I found an app called Calm. It’s free and easy to use. You can select which type of meditation that you want to do, whether that’s to stay calm, anxiety or sleep meditation. I started the anxiety one and it’s a 7-day programme. Each day you listen to 9-12 minutes podcast type thingy and relax. I love this app and it has helped me a lot.

Every morning, I grab a drink and sit on either my bed or floor and pop on the app and listen to the woman, who is so calm and peaceful.

STAY AWAY FROM NEGATIVITY

This one is quite an easy one, but try and stay away from negative people in your life. Obviously, this will be hard if they are family or friends. But what I tend to do, is listen to them when they’re moaning or being negative but I kinda zone out a little but make sure I look like I’m interested. In my head I sometimes have a little moan about the person talking to me, for example:

Friend: I really don’t want to do this, it’s so annoying and it’s going to ruin my life
Me (inside voice): Oh, shut up! It isn’t going to ruin your life and yes it’s a little bit annoying but so are you…

Always remember INSIDE voice, otherwise, you’ll lose a few friends.
Also, maybe try and tell them it’s going to be okay! Give some of your positivity to them.

QUOTES

Pop quotes up all over your room, or have one as your wallpaper on all your devices. Just surround yourself with positive quotes. Pinterest, Tumblr and Google are full of quotes.
I have a section of my wall where I have a few of my favourite quotes. To see my favourite quotes, click here.
Quotes help me a lot, whenever I’m having a down day I search for a few online and save them, or I look at my wall and just stare at them till I start to feel a little bit better.

“Anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve.”
-J.K Rowling

HAVE SOME ‘YOU TIME’

It’s really important to remember to have some time to yourself, no one else is going to do it for you. Just take out 10 minutes a day or an hour a week to do some things that make you happy. Here’s a list of things you can do to stay positive and happy:

– Read
– Listen to music
– Shop (online or actual shops)
– Have a chilled bath, with your favourite bubbles
– Watch a movie, you’ve been wanting to watch forever
– Stick quotes up around your room
– Go for a walk
– It’s up to you

Fidget Spinner Craze

Screen Shot 2017-06-09 at 21.04.17
Over the last week or so, the whole world has been going mental over these Fidget Spinners. I didn’t have a flipping clue what the hell they were, all I knew was that the whole world had them and I didn’t!!!

My little brother has been begging us for one for a while now, but everywhere was sold out! And you know what kids are like, can’t wait for anything because we wanted to order one from EBay or Amazon. But he wanted one NOW!

So, today I managed to get one from one of those phone cases stalls in town centres. £4.00!!!!
How the hell can a spinning plastic thingy cost so much. Still got it though 😂 wanted to see what the whole craze was about. Jack (brother) got one too.

To be honest, they are quite addicting once you start spinning, you can’t stop…

Personally, I don’t think kids or adults should have them unless they do have ADHD or anxiety because that is what they are for. And to be fair I do have anxiety so I’m allowed, surely?! As for my brother…

I actually might start collecting them, as they are interesting and there are plenty of them out there, neon, plain colours, pattern, and tonnes more. However this time I am defiantly ordering them online because they are so much cheaper.

What do you think about the whole Fidget Spinner Craze?
If you have one, what colour do you have?

Ways to make money

As a teen, I find it hard to earn a little pocket money on the side of a full-time college course. So recently I found 3 ways I have been making money online.

I have to admit, after watching the entire season of Girl Boss in one sitting, I did want to start selling vintage clothes online but I remembered that I’m not in a TV show or film…

That’s when I decided to find some easy ways to make money online the easy way.

1. SELL, SELL, SELL

Over the past few weeks, I have been visiting my grandparent’s house, who have been having a huge clear out of random junk that they have. So, I decided to sell a few things online. That way my grandparent’s house is junk free and I get to earn a little bit of cash too.

I find that the best way to sell items is on Facebook groups, such as buy it, sell it, groups. Simply just join a few, take pictures of your item you want to sell, add a price, title and a description and bobs your uncle.

Bank holiday Sunday just gone, I actually managed to sell a new sun lounger that my nan found in the shed. I popped it onto Facebook and within minutes, literally within minutes, I had 3 responses. Not a lot but it went within the hour and I earned £5…

You don’t have to use Facebook groups though, you can also you a website called Gumtree. Or you can even use Ebay. However, the reason why I love Facebook groups so much is that you can find groups in your town so if you need to deliver or collect it’s not far to go.

2. RECYCLE

Me and my mum actually had a little business going a few years back buying old furniture and re-painting them, then selling them on Ebay or Facebook.

It’s so simple, but it does take a lot of work and you don’t earn a huge profit each time.

We would either buy cheap cabinets or drawers or find them for free on Freegle. Then we would go to our local B&Q store and purchase some paint, our favourite was the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, which is expensive but totally worth it.

There are plenty of Youtube videos out there to help you get started.

Heres an example of the price:
Furniture = £5 <
Paint = £18
Wax, sandpaper, decoration (door handles) = £15 >
Total = £38

We would then sell the finishing product for about £40 – £80 if not more. So the profit isn’t huge, however, it does depend on the size of the item and whether it’s good quality too.

3. EBOOKS

So, I haven’t yet tried this, however, I am currently in the middle of writing an Ebook. Yay!
So if you would like to see more posts about writing an Ebook I will be honoured.

However, I have seen that a lot of people do make a good amount of money writing and selling Ebooks.

Simply write a decent book, it can be a short one or a huge one, or it can also be a series like Harry Potter. It can be about anything. Then what you do it upload it to Amazon.

And wait…

I hope you enjoyed this post 🙂

If you have any ways to earn money online, feel free to add them in the comments below.

Pamper Night

So as seen as it’s Friday, I thought I would upload a blog post talking through my Friday pamper nights.

It’s the end of a long, and tiring week. All you’ve done is work really hard, and I bet you are absolutely shattered and all you want to do is relax and have a long, long bath. With a glass of wine…?

I’m now going to go through my pamper night with you.

Hope you enjoy!

WASH THE DAY OFF!

This is my favourite part, washing off all my makeup…
Starting off with a makeup remover wipe, I completely wipe off my layers of foundation. I then wash my face with a facial wash. I use the Neutrogena wipes and wash in the grapefruit scent. Neutrogena my favourite brand, especially for dry skin.

MOISTURISE…

This is one of the most important steps to do after taking your makeup off and damaging your skin. Personally, I prefer gels, as they’re not as greasy on my face because it literally takes seconds for it to soak in. At the minute I’m loving the Simply Beautiful Collection (SBC), they supply a huge range of gels, shower gels and bath soaks. They have Collagen, Aloe Vera, Propolis and lots more! Arnica gel is great for aches and pains all over the body, and the best part is all ages can use it…

BUBBLES, BUBBLES, BUBBLES

After my face is all clean and soft, I head to the bathroom and run myself a warm bubble bath, with all of my favourite soaps.
So (caught red handed) I use Zoella Bath Latte first, running that under the tap. I then pour in a ton of Radox Muscle Therapy Bath Salts. Lastly, I add a bath bomb from Lush.

WINE O’CLOCK

While my bath is running, I nip downstairs and grab a large glass of wine. However, I tend to opt for water. But if it’s been a hell of a week, wine it is…
My favourite is red.

LIGHT EM’ UP

My favourite part of bath time is lighting up all of my candles. I love the Yankee Candles. I just love how candles can completely relax me and create an amazing atmosphere. And the smells lurking in the room are so good!!
Happy Spring and Pink Sands are my favourite scents for this time of the year.

READ A BOOK

Either during my bath or after I like to read. This is the time when I switch my phone off or turn it on do not disturb and just chill.
I am currently reading Zoella’s book Girl Online 2, and I am also loving 13 Reasons Why. I have seen the TV Show but I thought I would read the book and I love it!!

What’s in my makeup bag

Whenever I am reading through other blogs, I love to read about what is in everyone’s makeup bags. It gives me new ideas and products to try.
So I thought I would share with you some of the products that help me look more alive in the morning.
I hope you enjoy this post.
Have you tried these products? If so, whats your fav?

Picture

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Foundation
I’ve had this for 6 months now and I’m almost at the end….
Let me tell ya, this product is fricking amazing! The coverage of this foundation is the best. So I have a lot of freckles and I’m not keen on them, therefore I like to cover them up as much as possible. And this stuff does the job, really well. It’s a full coverage foundation, which in my opinion is quite hard to find these days because everyone is obsessed with BB creams or CC creams. The creams that don’t cover nowt!!
Also with the ROTS foundation, the colours are perfect. They have a huge range of colours and the one that I have is a perfect match for my pale, pale skin.
The consistency is also so good, liquidity and goes everywhere…But the best thing about this is that it doesn’t dry up on your face. It doesn’t cake, and the main thing for me is that it doesn’t clump up on already their dry patches. I just love it!!

Picture

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer:
This concealer is so good! I saw that Zoella was using it a few years ago and I decided to give it ago. And I fell in love….
The coverage is amazeballs. It completely covers my dark, dark circles under my tired eyes. The colour is perfect and goes really well with the Tarte ROTS foundation. The concealer blends lovely and doesn’t dry up, which is the main thing for me because I get dry skin under my eyes and the concealer doesn’t clump up.

Picture

Collection Lasting Perfection Powder:
There’s not much to say really, as it is just a powder. However it is a really good powder, because of the coverage, and the fact it doesn’t dry up and doesn’t look patchy. I tend to go for transparent because I don’t need to add any more colour on my face, but I do have a coloured powder and it is really good if I am running out of foundation, this kinda does the rest of the job for me. Very pleased with this inexpensive product.

Picture

Collection Contour Kit, Highlights and Sculpt:
I bought this while ago now and it has lasted for ages, and I literally use it every day without fail. I mainly use the highlighters, because it is a really nice and subtle colour/highlight on my cheek bones, down my nose and under my brows. It lasts all day, it isn’t patchy and it blends lovely. Unfortunately, I’ve hit pan 😦 so I will need a new one soon and I will deffo be getting this again.
For the contour, it is a lovely shade of brown, it’s not too orange so you look like you’ve not blended properly and it isn’t to brown. It’s a gorgeous colour. Although I don’t use it that often because I don’t contour. Mainly because I don’t know how, but also because it doesn’t look right on me.

Picture

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea, Eye and Cheek Palette:
Okay, this is fricking awesome!!! Not only is it an eyeshadow palette, it also has a blusher in it. Buttttt!! It’s no ordinary blusher. It’s the best blusher (to me) in the entire world. Not kidding. I have never been a blusher fan because they don’t suit me and don’t look right. However, I tried this and OMG….I use it all the time. Its got a lovely glow to it, so I don’t need as much highlight and it makes me glow and it looks amazing. But also I think it has helped my makeup look tidier. It blend amazingly, and the colour is really good for pale skin.
Right, for the eyeshadow. Let me tell ya’!! Once again, just amazing! I tend to stick with Tide, Sunset, Sandcastle, who am I kidding, I use all of em….They are gorgeous on the eye, blend really well and last for ages. Plus it comes off easy with a wipe but doesn’t come off in the rain. If ya get me?!!!! So yeah, amazing product.

Picture

Tarte Tartiest Mascara:
Not much to say really, apart from WOW WIE!!!!!! So, I have quite small, short eyelashes but I love them long, and this product is so flipping amazing its like I have falsies on, without the drag and the time it takes to place them on, only to realise its the wrong side.
Also, I am not a huge fan of plastic wands but this is an exception. The wand doesn’t drag on the eye, the product doesn’t irritate the eye and it comes off so easy. I’m in love.
However, I have none left 😦

Let’s Talk About…Periods

Let’s talk periods, the one thing a lot of people are afraid to talk about. And tbh so am I….but why are we so worried to talk about such a natural and pure thing that every woman has to deal with.

Is it because we are worried what others will think? Is it because our emotions are so high we get extra paranoid? Or because we are scared what the boys will think about us?

This day and age, it’s very hard to speak the truth, considering we are a free country. As it should be okay to inform your friends and family that you may seem a bit emotional because you’re on ‘your period’, but we don’t. However some may have the confidence and courage to say so, but no a lot do.

I know that some man out there do have some idea of what happens during a period, or what women have to go through.  On the other hand, there is a lot, a lot of people who don’t give a shit really, especially your boss…

The hardest part for me when I am on my period is going a public toilet, whether it’s work, college, or a friends house. I get super paranoid, and I hate it. I just worry too much…

But the thing is, it’s not just me who feels this, a lot of women and young girls go through the same.
I remember when I was in year 7, and I was around the age of 12. All my friends were getting their periods and I was jealous, I wanted it so bad. Then BAM, within a week I started.

I’m sure that a lot of young girls wish for it because all of their friends are getting it, and you wanna feel cool, and grown up. But the thing is, you don’t want it at such a young age. You need to stay a child as long as you can, don’t rush your childhood. Because when you get to my age, there’s a lot going on. Also, your periods become more frequent.

Every woman should be proud to have their periods, because it’s, unique and special. Also, it brings a new life into this world…

You know I have read a lot of articles, saying a woman should get time off work when they’re on their periods. Yes, that would be lovely. You can sit at home with a hot water bottle on your tummy and eat tonnes of junk food. But is it practical?

Think about it, is it practical? Because while you’re at home feeling sorry for yourself, everyone else is at work, doing your job, and you’re missing out big time. And you are missing 12 weeks a year…That’s a lot.
Also, some woman don’t have periods, whether that’s because of menopause, the pill or a medical issue, and it’s not fair to them if they can’t get time off because they don’t have their periods for a reason that can’t be helped…Do you get where I’m coming from?

I feel that people shouldn’t be embarrassed to talk about periods or be worried because you think people will know that you’re on and you don’t want them to know. See, the problem with me is I worry when in the toilet in case anyone comes in and I get embarrassed because they might know what’s going on. BUT!!!! I’m in a GIRLS bathroom, who all experience and know what it’s like. However, I do know that a lot of girls can be bitchy about it. But you know that you’re not the only one.

One thing that really winds me up is how expensive ladies items are. Actually no, what I really mean is tampons and sanitary towels. See this is the world we live in, where we are too embarrassed to say TAMPONS and TOWELS. Instead, we all say ‘ladies things/items’ or we whisper ‘I need some “things”‘. Just say it! The works tampons and towels, are not rude and won’t offend anyone. It’s just a goddamn word that everyone needs to learn to say it out loud without worrying.

Anyway, back to the expensive side of periods. How ridiculous is the pricing of tampons and towels? It’s disgraceful! Especially is you’re homeless, or a bit low on cash. What do you do? Some places sell them for £12… Yes, you read that right 12 bloody pound!!! Although you can get some for £1.99, how do you know if they are going to be good enough?

Anyway, that’s the end of my little rant of periods. Have a nice day.
